March 22nd, TEMPLE CITY, CA.
RavenWestGuitar.com today announced the official launch of their new RWG brand line
of guitars. Owner Eric Bergquist explains the concept behind the new line as "Giving
guitarists a truly fantastic instrument without the need to mortgage their house to
afford it!" Bergquist, who was previously involved in the successful Raven guitar
company until it's demise following the untimely death of it's CEO, had seriously
considered getting out of the guitar business. Phone calls, letters and e-mails soon
made him change his mind. "There was real customer disappointment and sadness when
Raven closed it's doors," he said, " Raven owners were extremely loyal to the brand
and have that sort of underground camaraderie that often develops when people
realize something is so good and such a great deal, and that they're the first ones
smart enough to have discovered it." Buyer review sites like HarmonyCentral.com are
packed with glowing praise and high marks for the entire Raven line, and ce
rtainly bear out Bergquist's claims. Many believe that because of the quality of
the guitars, Raven instruments are now close to achieving collector status.
After listening to former customers and consulting with many guitar players, from
basement strummers to pro and working bands, Bergquist said that he realized that
there was not only a market for a quality guitar line in that particular price zone,
but a real need as well. "With Raven, we'd used a great Korean builder" he said.
"Their build quality, 'no shortcuts' manufacturing policy and attention to detail
was absolutely first rate. My former customers often told me that they wished I'd
resurrect the Raven line, but legally that wasn't possible, so last year after much
thought, I approached our builder with the blueprint for the new RWG line."
RWG guitars incorporate the very best features of Eric's previous line, such as the
use of quality mahogany and maple tone woods and set neck construction, but that was
just the starting point. The flagship models of the RWG line are the RG350 solidbody
and RG450 hollowbody. Both share much with their forebears, including their basic
model numbers, but the RWG models have numerous upgrades and improvements suggested
by professional recording and touring musicians such as guitarist Bill MacKechnie of
the band Anubis Spire. Eric explained "Bill really knows his guitars. He was a
custom luthier for many years and really helped me see what was important and what
wasn't, from a professional guitarist's point of view. All of our new models boast
improved hardware, specially voiced pickups, medium jumbo frets, and Grover tuners.
The top of the line models feature bound fingerboards with beautiful abalone inlays
and great finishes, and are definitely a level or two above anything that we've designed or built before. I believe that these are superbly built, truly
professional quality instruments, and for the money an incredible value, that's why
we offer a lifetime limited warranty on every guitar we sell."
In order to control the most important aspects of quality and customer satisfaction,
RavenWestGuitar.com will be the exclusive seller of these guitars. RWG currently has
seven models in various finishes available at the website with more planned,
including a new RWG line of basses, coming soon.
