Press Release Body = (New York, NY) – Redshift Productions (featured on ABC News Nightline and CBS Sunday Morning) presents Happy Hour at the Event Horizon, a comedy about physics featuring actors and scientists that takes place in a bar at the edge of a black hole. A two-week limited engagement begins April 21 at the Blue Heron Arts Center Studio Theatre at 123 East 24th Street. A Happy Hour at the Event Horizon Improvisation Evening will take place on Tuesday, March 29 at 7 PM at The Tank, 432 West 42nd Street.

In Happy Hour at the Event Horizon, a photon, played by an actor, emerges from a black hole to find herself at The Event Horizon, the local bar. With no knowledge of who she is and where she came from, the photon must rely on the help of the bartender to understand her role in the universe. This bartender is no stranger to unusual customers, and The Event Horizon is host to patrons of all shapes and sizes. Literally. Electrons and Protons argue; galaxies communicate over extreme distances while performing in a movie; and power point presentations, including real-life scientists, spring to life in an extraordinary fashion. These experiences illustrate
some of the latest developments in physics. Take one part Cheers and one part Nova and you’ve got Happy Hour at the Event Horizon.

Redshift Productions develops material for Happy Hour by conducting rehearsals where actors and scientists engage in authentic collaboration. Scientists become improvisers, and actors experiment with scientific concepts in an improvised
setting. Further development takes place at Happy Hour at the Event Horizon Improvisation Evenings, where material developed in rehearsal is revealed to a live audience.

Happy Hour at the Event Horizon plays at the Blue Heron Arts Center Studio Theatre from April 21 to May 1, 2005. Tickets are $12, and advance tickets can be purchased through Smarttix at 212-868-4444 or online at www.smarttix.com/show.aspx?showCode
