Body = Baring it All is her story, of a woman who’s sunk as
low as she can sink, but God hasn’t forgotten or forsaken
her.
Gena had this
to say about her heroine Marissa Rogers. “When I created Marissa,
I put many aspects of myself into her. Her financial struggle, her
spiritual struggle, her search for love in all the wrong places
are things that I and many other single mothers, and women alone
have faced and continue to face on a daily basis. We find ourselves
lost in life, and unable to see the right way out of bad situations.
I relate to Marissa and I believe that other women will also.”
Gena attended
South Carolina State University and studied writing briefly at Greenville
Technical College. She is co-owner, and one of the authors, of
www.privatelibrary.net. She enjoys writing short stories, plays,
poetry and has completed her second novel.
Love between a sinner and a saint, turns into a roller coaster ride
of sex, lies, and murder. Baring it All by Gena L. Garrison (ISBN
1-4137-5298-5)
Chocolate Paradise,
the city's premier adult entertainment nightclub is the backdrop
for this tale. Owned and operated by Marcus Thomas, Chocolate Paradise
is host to the city's most elite clientele of politicians, sport
stars, and entertainers. Its dancers rank amongst the highest paid
in the country.
Marissa Rogers,
a young African American female struggling to survive on her own,
becomes employed as a stripper at Chocolate Paradise in order to
supplement her dismal finances. She enjoys working there until she
meets and falls in love with her grandmother's married minister.
Rev. Travis
Leonard, a young good looking African American male, struggles to
fight against his temptation for Marissa as he takes his appointment
as minister of his first congregation. There has been a Leonard
in the pulpit of a large congregation
since the days of slavery and Travis refuses to be the first to
break tradition.
Both of their
lives and the community are in turmoil as they discover the strippers
are being murdered one by one. The killer is coming closer to Marissa
as she and Travis realize they must bare it all to each other to
not only have a future together but to find God's presence and purpose
and hope for that future.
Sandra K. Poole,
editor-in-chief of Private Library comments on Baring it All.“Gena
Garrison has taken a premise as old as time - The Saint and the
Sinner - and made it anew. Her characters are real, everyday people
- facing the up and downs of life and love. And to add a little
spice there is a mystery...and murder. This is a true pager turner
and must for summer reading...especially at the beach. Even if you
don't believe before you read this...you will after. Don't miss
out on the next new bestseller.” Baring it All will be released
by Publish America May 14, 2005 but can be pre-ordered at their
website at the special pre-release price of 16.95 by going to www.publishamerica.com/books/8475.
