Press Release Summary = Some of the top chili cooks in North America will compete for automatic qualifications into the CASI world class International Championship.

Press Release Body = The 2005 CASI North American Open Chili Championship is coming to Lebanon, TN. This event is sanctioned by the Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI) as a national regional championship where the top 3 chili winners will be automatically qualified to compete in the 2005 CASI International Championship to be held in Terlingua, Texas in November. The Heart of Tennessee Chapter (HOT POD-CASI) in conjunction with the Wilson County Fair Association will be hosting the 2005 North American Open CASI Championship. The North American Open Chili Championship event will be held on Saturday, August 19; the opening Saturday of the fair; with the chili judging starting at 1:30 p.m. The organizers are expecting contestants from several states to be traveling to Tennessee to compete in
this championship.

The Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI) is a non-profit volunteer organization which sanctions chili cooking events throughout the world. The first
CASI chili world class event was held in 1967 in Terlingua, Texas and has continued the first Saturday in November every year since. The world class CASI event in Terlingua is an invitational event only base upon qualifying; but local and regional events are always open to anyone who might think they have the best chili recipe in the world. The competition chili must be cooked from scratch at the cookoff site;
using no fillers, such as: beans, spaghetti, or macaroni. The North American Open will follow the CASI rules in management of the event and in judging the chili. The CASI rules may be reviewed at their website: www.chili.org
