Press Release Summary = The 10th annual COMS conference announces an extraordinary list of keynote and plenary speakers. From The USA’s molecular nanotechnology pioneer James von Ehr, the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Zyvex Corporation, to Dr.
Hugh Clair and Roger Carline who will present on the UK MNT Network - The role of Governments, Development Agencies, and Universities. The COMS conference will bring together the worlds best minds with expertise relating to the commercialization of
small technologies.

Press Release Body = Mr. von Ehr will be presenting "Nanotechnology without the Hype - Developing and Commercializing Nanotechnology products" The Richardson TX company has developed an impressive array of tools and materials that are bringing
nanotechnology to market today. Zyvex's expertise includes Molecular nanotechnology, Microassembly technology, Nanostructure process techniques, Micro and Nanodevices, Microconnector technology, and Nanomaterials.

Dr. Hugh Clair and Roger Carline will provide an overview of The UK MNT Network which was initiated in 2004 by the Government and Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) to co-ordinate and lead the development of the national MNT activity. A
Government investment of £90 million is funding industry led R&D projects and creating a facilities network to allow access to existing centers of excellence in MNT. Further RDA funding is being used to generate centers of international significance. To facilitate and initiate this activity, co-ordinate and lead network development and on-going government investment, a small team of people has been
engaged. In this presentation the UK approach to the development of the UK program will be given together with details of some of the current activities.

Additional highlights of the wide ranging technical program include: Ethical Issues in Nanotechnology, Education and Training, Creating MNT Jobs, Space Applications (RF Phase Shifters / MEMS Switches), Status and Trends in Smart Clothing (Nano Solider
Initiative – MIT & US DoD), Standards for Microfabrication Equipment, Emerging Applications of Micro-Nanotechnologies in the Agrofood Field, A Vision of the Future of Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Overcoming Barriers to Commercialization; among
many others. Virtually all industries and facets of commercialization are covered.
Sessions also include overviews of regional networks, business development
strategies, funding, exploring potential and avoiding pitfalls in commercialization, supply and demand issues, as well as the role of roadmaps in the commercialization process.

A complimentary SEMI MEMS international standards workshop chaired by Bettina Weiss, is also on the agenda for Sunday August 21st prior to the COMS opening reception. This workshop will provide an overview of current MEMS standards, and will be
followed up with a a breakout session on Wednesday featuring an open discussion on the future requirements for MEMS and nanotechnology standards.

The COMS conference is among the world’s most important meeting places for all those attempting to bring emerging small technologies from concept to the marketplace. It addresses issues on an international front, gathering input from MNT leaders representing regions all over the globe. COMS is shaping the future of the Micro-Nano marketplace!
