Press Release
Summary = Less than two weeks after suicide bombers wreaked havoc
on London killing fifty-four people and injuring 700, the city’s
mayor, Ken Livingston has insulted the city on national television,
by defending suicide bombers.
Press Release
Body = In a sequence of extraordinary statements to John Snow, Mr.
Livingston effectively condoned suicide bombers, prompting a peer
to ask in the House of Lords today, whether bus drivers would feel
less safe in view of the Mayor of London’s stated support
of suicide bombers. Despite being mayor of a city that suffered
such a devastating loss of life at the hands of suicide terrorists,
Mr Livingston responded to John Snow’s comment that Palestinians
“fighting back does involve killing civilians” by saying
that, “And that is a point you are not going to get over”.
He went on to defend Sheikh Qaradawi, a fundamentalist supporter
of suicide bombings in the Middle East, as “the most progressive
Islamic theologian in the world” and equated soldiers fighting
in military campaigns with suicide bombers attacking innocent civilians.
Many people are now calling for the Prime Minister to ask Mr Livingston
to either categorically condemn all suicide bombers or to stand
down as Mayor of London.
