SAN FRANCISCO,
August 22, 2005 - CITTIO Inc., the innovation leader in network
monitoring and operations software, announced today that it has
signed an agreement with the 16-time world champion Boston Celtics
to deploy WatchTower 2.4TM to power the team's network monitoring
activities. The Celtics' IT organization is vital to
front-office management, ensuring its connection to ticketing servers,
providing game strategy and draft information to coaching staff
and driving communication with employees, business partners and
fans.
"Technology
plays a huge role in our success on all levels," said Jay Wessel,
senior director of technology at the Boston Celtics. "We need
to keep fans up-to-date and maintain the integrity of the databases
coaches access daily. The Boston Celtics needs court vision, so
to speak, without the high price tag or complexity of many solutions
on the market. WatchTower's ability to run on UNIX and Linux servers
is
also a big plus. For us, going with WatchTower was a slam dunk."
"The CITTIO
team and I are thrilled to be part of the core infrastructure that
drives such a great team. The Celtics have been around since 1946
and have achieved success by not standing still, either on the court
or in the front office," said Jamie Lerner, CEO of CITTIO.
"The organization has enthusiastically embraced technology
throughout its history, and though it is not as large as many major
U.S. corporations, it still has the same compelling needs for up-time
operation, accountability and ease-of-use."
CITTIO WatchTower
at the Boston Celtics
Prior to selecting
CITTIO WatchTower, Celtics IT used a product that did not allow
staff to effectively monitor network performance or extract performance-specific
Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) metrics. Like many multi-tasking
IT executives, Jay Wessel was interested in acquiring enterprise-class
capabilities, including the ability to closely follow the operation
of three key, distributed
environments from a central Web-based console. With CITTIO WatchTower,
Wessel and his staff will be able to proactively manage potential
network issues and also intelligently plan network capacity.
On a day-to-day
basis, WatchTower will enable Celtics IT to track the performance
of 75 network nodes. These nodes encompass ticketing servers, an
important component of revenue realization, video servers--which
allow coaching staff to develop player and
potential draft profiles as well as review coaching strategies¯and
the WAN connections that support e-mail service.
