Body = Orlando, Florida -- August 10, 2005 -- An innovative and
exciting form of treatment for children with neuro-muscular disabilities
is now
available in Orlando, Florida! Innovative Children’s Therapy,
Inc. offers intensive suit therapy using the Therasuit™ and
universal exercise unit. Three weeks in an intensive therapy program
can bring about progress in a child’s motor skills which normally
take six to eight months with standard therapy.
According to
one patient’s mother, “No, this isn’t a magic
pill. It’s great therapy, done by fantastic therapists. Therapists
who are dedicated to seeing children maximize their potential. They
bonded with Gaven and discovered his interests, then used this to
inspire and motivate him to push himself to a new level. Gaven still
talks about them and asks when he’ll see them again. Intensive
Suit Therapy is hard
work, but with these therapists it’s more like child’s
play!”
Innovative’s
intensive therapy program involves four hours of therapy per day,
five days per week for three weeks. The customized therapy program
includes use of the Therasuit™, universal exercise unit, Neuro-Developmental
Treatment, unweighted gait training, hippotherapy, and other effective
treatments to maximally benefit each child.
Innovative Children’s
Therapy believes that it is essential to incorporate play into therapy
to get the maximal effort out of each child. “We strive to
make therapy fun through play, music, laughter, and silliness,”
says co-founder and occupational
therapist Ariana Watson. The combination of fun and hard work is
what sets Innovative apart.
Suit therapy
developed from the original Penguin suit used in Russia to rehabilitate
the cosmonauts’ atrophied muscles after returning from long
periods in space. It has since been refined into a model which helps
children with cerebral palsy and other neuro-muscular disorders.
The Therasuit™ is effective in aligning the child’s
body, providing deep proprioception, increasing strength, facilitating
correct
movement patterns, improving endurance, and improving sensory integration.
The universal
exercise unit is used to isolate and strengthen specific muscles,
allow independent standing, improve transitions between positions,
and give vestibular stimulation.
Intensive therapy
is beneficial for children with cerebral palsy, developmental delay,
athetosis/ataxia, spina bifida, Down syndrome, post stroke, hypertonia,
and hypotonia. Innovative Children’s Therapy offers free screening
to determine whether your child
may benefit from their program. Call them at 407-679-STEP or visit
