Summary = Tao Las Vegas is proud to announce that Joseph Muscaglione
has been named as Wine & Beverage Director for both The Restaurant
and Nightclub.
Press Release
Body = Mr. Muscaglione brings years of experience to Tao. Before
joining Tao, Mr. Muscaglione was Wine Director at NYC's famed Babbo
Ristorante where he collaborated with star chef Mario "Molto
Mario" Batali and Joe Bastianich in compling one of the worlds
most complete Italian only wine lists, earning multible awards.
Joe Muscaglione
was also a Wine Consultant for Winebow & Vinifera, both NYC
based premier wine importers and distributors. His clients were
among the East Coasts most elite Restaurants. Tao will boost a 'Global'
wine list with over 200 selections ranging from $35.00 per bottle
to $7,200.00 for a 1945 Chateau Latour. Over 40 Sakes with 12 by
the glass will be offered.
This September,
the creators of Tao Asian Bistro bring the renowned New York hotspot
and celebrity hangout to The Venetian. Specializing in Hong Kong
Chinese, Japanese and Thai cuisines, Chef Sam Hazen's creation include
everything from Kobe beef to traditional Peking Duck, all prepared
by master chefs from across Asia.
At almost 50,000
square feet, Tao's entertainment complex is among the largest in
the world and features Las Vegas' hippest nightclub, coolest ultra-lounge,
largest banquet facility and of course, the hottest restaurant in
town. This "Asian City's" décor includes lush velvets
and silks, waterfalls and century old woods and stones,
and a hand-carved 20-foot-tall Buddha floating peacefully above
an infinity pool complete with Japanese carp.
The massive
Tao Las Vegas project has also inked their star chef! Josh 'Moses'
Thomsen has signed on as Chef de Cuisine for the Asian fusion outlet
after resigning as the Corporate Executive Chef of Boa Steakhouse.
He will work
with Tao Corporate Executive Chef Sam Hazen, coincidentally the
talented Thomsen's instructor at the Culinary Institute of America
back in the early 90's. "Once a mentor, always a mentor"
noted an excited Thomsen who has a proven track record for opening
new outlets. The notches on his cuttingboard include opening Simon
Kitchen & Bar, Nobhill and Boa, all of which would go on to
win Best New Restaurant Awards. "I'm three for three!"
boasted Thomsen.
On the nightclub
side, Operating Partner is Jason Strauss. One of the East Coast's
premier marketing minds, Strauss is the Co-Owner of Marquee in New
York City and now one of the principle partners of the Nightclub
at Tao Las Vegas. He has also brought aboard fellow New Yorker Andrew
Goldberg, whom he has worked with for several years
back in NYC. The team that Strauss and Goldberg are putting together
is nearly complete.
General Manager
for the Nightclub at Tao will be Turk Spinuzzi who comes over from
his AGM position at Rain Nightclub. In other confirmed hires, Jacob
Wood (previously of Lure Ultra Lounge and Red Square) accepts the
Assistant General Manager position, Hing Yip Yim (previously of
Lure and rumjungle) becomes Director of Nightclub
Services and Bob Shindelar has accepted a Senior VIP Host position
with the nightclub, departing the off-strip hot spot Ice Nightclub.
Opening date
is September 23, 2005.
