Press Release Author = Blue Water Spa

Press Release Summary = Raleigh Day Spa to give 100% of Sunday Revenue in 2005 to
Hurricane Katrina Relief
Press Release Body = Blue Water Spa, a medical spa in Raleigh, NC will be opening the spa the first
Sunday of October, November and December 2005 and giving 100% of all revenue from
products and services sold to the Red Cross to benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Blue Water Spa is owned by board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Law and his
wife Kile Law.
The staff of Blue Water Spa is donating their time to perform treatments, answer
phones, greet clients, clean rooms, etc. Facials, massage, microdermabrasion, laser
hair removal, laser facials and more will be available to individuals who wish to
have the entire amount of their medical spa service go to the Red Cross to aid
hurricane victims. “I have never wanted the spa open on Sunday”, says Kile Law. “I
feel it is important to give our staff and clients an opportunity to worship and to
be with their families, but our staff wanted to help flood victims so we decided to
open our doors to collect revenue that can go to the Red Cross.”
Blue Water Spa will be donating 100% of all revenue received on the designated days
to the Red Cross. “I have never pushed products in the spa, but I will be here those
days and encouraging everyone to stock up on skin care, candles and more. We
considered many different promotions including money off treatments or giving the
profit from products sold to a relief fund, but a tragedy like this brings out the
best and the worst in people. I imagine some businesses will view this tragedy as a
marketing opportunity. I wanted to be sure that it is clear that there is no benefit
to our business.”
The staff members of the spa want to be examples for others. “Many people want to
help, but they do not have the financial resources to do so”, says Lynne Dubuque, a
laser technician at Blue Water Spa. “By donating just five hours a month to the
relief efforts, we can make a difference.”
Service providers generally receive 20% to 25% of the price of treatment in tips.
The staff at the spa will also be donating all tips they receive those days to the
Red Cross. “I am amazed by the generosity of the incredible group of people I work
with” says Law, “I hope that other businesses and their staff can find similar ways
to work together and help those in desperate need.”
Thearadise Beaver, a massage therapist and aesthetician offered, “Those dead are not
statistics, they were once living, breathing human beings who had hopes and dreams
and loved ones just like each one of us. I hope we all can be a part of providing
relief and support for those in this horrible situation.”
