Press Release Summary = MAINZ, Germany, Nov. 14, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Coattec Industries, Inc. (Other OTC:CTCK.PK - News) today announced that the Company is presently conducting a feasibility study with the objective of marketing its antibacterial coating technology in the United States. The coating has applications in filters for air conditioning systems and filters for vacuum cleaning units as well as wallpaper in hospitals and other public buildings where the existence and spread of bacteria is a problem.
The Company believes that there exists a large market for its antibacterial coating in the U.S. market due to the material's capability to eliminate bacteria that exists despite periodic cleaning and changing of filters. Typically in air-conditioned buildings there is a risk of bacteria growing in filters and being spread throughout the system. High humidity and the warm environment create ideal conditions for bacteria and mold to grow and although filters are periodically cleaned and replaced, air circulation causes bacteria to circulate in the living spaces thus creating a health hazard. Coattec Industries' antibacterial coating does not only retain bacteria from air circulation, but outright destroys them.
Coattec's special spray is environmentally friendly, distinguishing it from similar bacteria prevention products available. The coating does not use chemical materials such as phosphates, fluorine, cadmium, arsenics, or other hazardous chemicals. It also does not contain dissolvent. The destruction of bacteria is obtained by particular salts bound into a binder also used in the production of foodstuffs. This sprayed on material creates high pH-values on the surface of the filters and eliminates bacteria. An independent laboratory of a major filter manufacturer in the U.K. successfully tested this product in the late nineties, reporting the elimination of 98 - 99.5% of bacteria in an air conditioning system whose filter had been sprayed with Coattec's material.
Bernd Meinecke, President and CEO of Coattec Industries, commented, ``There currently exists an underserved US market for our antibacterial coating. Recent discussions about a multi-billion government plan for flu pandemic preparedness has brought into actuality the general discussion of public health and cleanliness including methods to prevent bacteria from spreading in public and private life. We believe that our antibacterial coating poses an effective solution to this existing health hazard and Coattec is in the process of determining the most efficient method of bringing it to market in the U.S.''
