Press Release Summary = Ecotel VoIP offers cost-effective connections between VoIP and mobile phone networks

Press Release Body = Ebermannstadt, Germany – July 13, 2005. Vierling’s new GSM gateway Ecotel VoIP is now available worldwide. Companies who have installed Voice over IP (VoIP) systems can use the gateway to provide cost-effective connections between IP telephones and mobile radio networks. Additional applications exist for mobile users who need access to Internet, email and fax services. Ecotel VoIP delivers two to eight GSM mobile radio channels, with a centralized management software the gateway can be combined with any number of additional Ecotel VoIP gateways, and the whole system is based on the session initiation protocol (SIP). Thus, Ecotel VoIP meets the needs of a wide range of users, allowing Vierling to
profit from the strong growth of the VoIP market.

Reduced connection costs
Ecotel VoIP connects to a company’s LAN or ISDN telephone system. When an employee calls a mobile phone from a work extension, the gateway automatically sets up a connection via one of the up to eight GSM channels of the gateway. Each GSM channel can access any of the eight integrated SIM cards in order to best exploit the rates
offered by different providers of mobile telecom services. The gateway automatically chooses the SIM card with the best rate. For example, charges are especially low when a card of the same network is used where the destination number is located. This technique typically decreases connection costs by 30 to 70 per cent. Ecotel
VoIP can also route calls to the ISDN network. One benefit of this feature is that emergency numbers can be reliably accessed, which is not always the case with a complete VoIP implementation. Another benefit of Ecotel VoIP for mobile users includes connection to telephone and data networks via GSM and GPRS. In locations
without fixed network access, e.g. office containers and any kind of vehicle, Ecotel VoIP can be deployed to provide Internet, email and fax services via mobile radio.

Flexible and expandable
Ecotel VoIP can be fitted with two, four, six or eight GSM modules, allowing a corresponding number of simultaneous telephone connections to mobile radio networks. It is also possible to distribute multiple Ecotel VoIP gateways within a network and manage all of them via a centralized software. This allows companies to
simultaneously use more than eight channels. A SIP server installed in the network routes the calls to the gateways. Additionally a separate SIP server is available in each gateway. The GSM modules are suitable for all types of networks (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz). On the IP end, the device is based on the session initiation protocol (SIP standard) and supports all commonly used codecs. Further Ecotel VoIP offers a high degree of usability: For example, up to eight SIM cards can be easily exchanged using insertable cardholders without opening the housing. For configuration a intuitive Windows user interface is available.

Growth market VoIP
“This new gateway puts us at the forefront of a worldwide trend”, said Anton Gloeckner, product manager for Ecotel VoIP at Vierling. “Over the coming years, the number of companies using Internet telephony will increase rapidly. This is a worldwide development and it encompasses companies of all sizes. With Ecotel VoIP, Vierling offers the world’s most advanced GSM gateway for VoIP environments. By taking advantage of our existing expertise in mobile radio gateways for conventional telephone networks, we can now profit from the strong growth trend in the VoIP market.”
