Oceanroc’s Classic Bookstore is a mix of an old Jamaican favorite and two books
about the game of chess. Here is a look at the books that are offered:
Miss Sarah Jack, of Spanish Town- An ole Jamaican classic written by Anthony Trollope
Chess Strategy- Written by 5 times U.S. Open Chess champion, Edward Laskey
(1885-1981). Laskey also authored several other books in addition to devoting much
of his time to his engineering profession. He was awarded the official IM title by
FIDE in 1961.
The Blue Book of Chess- A rare gem of a chess book, The Blue Book was published in
1910 and was written by British chess master, Howard Staunton. Staunton established
himself as the world’s leading chess player in the 1840’s.
Both chess books are filled with strategies and tips that are still relevant and
powerful today.
