Press Release Author = Roland Oliveira - Transtector Systems Inc

Industry = Defense

Press Release Summary = Transtector Systems announced today that it has completed
installation of its
electromagnetic pulse (EMP) transient surge suppressors at Science Applications
International Corporation's (SAIC) Public Safety Integration Center (PSIC).

Press Release Body = Transtector Systems has developed a capability in negating the
effects of lightning
strikes and EMP type events that can often render electronics and communication
systems inoperable. By combining its experience in the field of silicon avalanche diode
suppression technology with knowledge in the telecommunications and defense
industries, Transtector has developed commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) and tailor-made
EMP surge suppression devices for mission critical systems. Serving as a PSIC "power
quality" vendor, Transtector Systems is bringing a new and visionary approach to
protecting hardware to the Public Safety Integration Center, and providing technology
solutions for protection of future telecommunications systems and infrastructure.
Current PSIC vendors are utilizing Transtector EMP and transient voltage surge
suppression (TVSS) devices for several applications.
\"We welcome Transtector's technology to the growing list of vendors who are
demonstrating their capabilities in SAIC's PSIC," said James W. Morentz, SAIC vice
president for Homeland Security Technology.
Roland Oliveira, Transtector Program Manager for Military & Aerospace Programs
stated, \"We are pleased to be part of SAIC's PSIC, and we look forward to fully
integrating and demonstrating our capabilities to PSIC visitors and potential
customers." About Transtector Systems
Transtector Systems, Inc. was founded in 1967 and joined Smiths Interconnect Division
in 1998. Transtector is an ISO 9001 certified manufacturer of surge suppression
solutions for the worldwide telecommunications, medical, OEM and industrial markets.
Transtector was the first surge suppression designer to use non-degrading silicon
diodes
in surge protective devices and holds two U.S. patents on suppression designs.
Our Vision: To provide innovative and specialized component technology solutions for
protecting our nation against EMP (electromagnetic pulse), HEMP (high-altitude
electromagnetic pulse) and lightning induced transient/surge type events. To be the
most admired power quality design and engineering firm addressing the threat of EMP
and HEMP pulses.
About SAIC
