Press Release Body = The Clarion Hotel Suites is due to open in April on the site of the Ardhu Ryan hotel on the Ennis Road. The €20 million development which incorporates the listed Georgian building comprises 61 one and two bedroom suites. The new hotel will employ over 50 people.
Since it opened in 2001, the Clarion Hotel at the heart of Limerick’s new Riverside City has attracted many visitors operating at over 90% occupancy this year.
Managing Partner Sean Lally said that as Limerick’s prosperity has risen, so too has the needs of its visitors \"We are very confident with the hotel\'s business going forward because of the level of demand, but we believe that there is a market here for a short to medium-term corporate let”.
According to Mr Lally many corporate travellers visiting Limerick for a few weeks want more than just a hotel room. This is what prompted the creation of the 61 Clarion Hotel Suites at the site of the old Ardhu Hotel.
These suites are located in the new building that has been adjoined to the former listed Georgian House – marrying the old with the new and modern technology with traditional warm hospitality and service.
The new Clarion Hotel Suites are like a “home-away-from-home” and offer guests every comfort such as cooking facilities, a sitting room, TV in the bedroom and freedom to order take-away food. Forty-three of the new Clarion Hotel suites are two bedroomed and eighteen are one bedroomed.
An additional three penthouse suites will cater for the especially indulgent corporate client.
The suites contain six conference rooms with the latest technological equipment and wireless broadband. There is also a gymnasium on site and the restaurant serves Malaysian-style cuisine -inspired by the Kudos eateries prevalent across the Clarion brand.
Local residents will have access to the new bar and restaurant at the Clarion Hotel Suites. The hotel suites will be managed via the Clarion Hotel Limerick. Residents of the suites will have full access to the Clarion Hotels facilities at Steamboat Quay.
Bedroom occupancy at the Clarion was pushed to capacity in 2005, with a split of 65% corporate and 35% leisure travellers. Due to such overwhelming demand for rooms, the sky-high property on Steamboat Quay is converting 30 of its apartments - maximising its space and increasing the entire stock from 123 to 158 bedrooms.
