The new 2006 Pontiac Torrent's car-like agility with SUV capability and versatility

The Torrent has a bold, sporty design complemented by a multi-purpose interior that
is configurable to countless uses, including a rear seat that adjusts fore and aft.
The Torrent broadens Pontiac's performance parameters by taking them in a whole new
direction. It has the spirited, responsive driving traits of a performance sedan,
but combines that fun-to-drive character with the capability of an SUV.

Torrent is one of the largest vehicles in its class and features a 185-horsepower
(138 kW) 3400 V-6 backed by a five-speed automatic transmission. It is available in
front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive models. Torrent also is packed with unexpected
details and many standard features that are either extra-cost options or unavailable
on competitors' vehicles.

Torrent also offers a host of comfort- and convenience-minded options, including
leather-trimmed seats and steering wheel, heated driver and front passenger seats,
power-adjustable driver seat, 17-inch aluminum wheels, CD/MP3 stereo with six-disc
CD changer and subwoofer, steering-wheel radio controls, power sunroof, multi-tier
rear cargo system, OnStar and XM Satellite Radio. Roof-rail side curtain air bags
and traction control also are available. (Traction control is available only on
front-wheel drive models.)

The 2006 Pontiac Torrent comes with a choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel
drive. Torrent is powered by GM\'s 3.4-liter V6 engine and five-speed automatic
transmission. Only one trim level is offered, but with a variety of options.
Standard equipment includes air conditioning, power windows, AM/FM/CD with six
speakers, remote entry and automatic door locks, fog lamps, roof rails, daytime
running lights, a rear window wiper, and 16-inch aluminum wheels. Safety features
that come standard include ABS, a rear child-seat latch system, and the mandated
front airbags. Traction control comes standard on front-wheel-drive models;
all-wheel-drive further enhances safety, of course. An optional Security Package
includes side curtain airbags and one year of Onstar service. Electronic stability
control isn\'t available. The 2006 Pontiac Torrent has received the highest \"good\"
rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in frontal crash
testing.
