Press Release Body = SACRAMENTO , August 29, 2006 - O3SIS Information Technology AG, a leading provider of personal mobile applications and Over-the-Air data synchronization (DS) technology for first tier mobile network operators announced that O2 Ireland, a leading provider of mobile services, went live with its new Backup and Restore and Synchronization services for mobile subscribers.
The new mobile data service features O3SIS' Unified Mobile Directory (UMD), a high-end address book, over the air data synchronization, and applications integration platform integrated with Gemalto's SIMchronize, a SIM-based product that stores end user personal data on the card and an operator-branded Internet portal. Gemalto is a world leader in digital security, creating and deploying secure platforms, portable and secure forms of software in highly personal objects like smart cards, SIMs, e-passports, readers and tokens.
O2 Ireland customers can now synchronize their contacts, which are stored on internal SIM cards as well as on the handset, to the O2 portal, to prevent the loss of precious personal data in the event of an upgrade, lost ---lose or theft. SIM cards can either go with users from phone to phone or up-to-date data can be wirelessly restored to new cards and phones to relieve users from the arduous process of re-entering their contacts. This also enables O2 Ireland to retain a consistent usage/revenue stream.
"Maintaining customer peace of mind by safeguarding personal data is the critical enabler for generating consistent voice revenue, increasing customer satisfaction, and reducing subscriber churn," said Dirk Dörre, CEO and CTO at O3SIS. "O3SIS' industry-leading over-the-air synchronization products enable O2 Ireland to provide seamless service to its users, allowing them to safely and easily manage their personal data from phone-to-phone."
O3SIS SyncML (OMA DS) data synchronization and Backup and Restore products are key components of the company's Unified Mobile Applications (UMA) platform, which provides Over-the-Air data synchronization, a full-featured address book, mobile device backup/restore, and mobile personal information management (PIM) functionality including consumer push e-mail. UMA enables operators to roll out multiple value-added services from a single, high-performance platform, significantly reducing system complexity and maintenance costs. O3SIS' UMA products support Over-the-Air synchronization on more than 150 different devices from all leading handset vendors.
