Press Release Body = This is the second release of a tool to capture those requirements. About 3 years ago Project Perfect were assisting an organisation standardise their requirement gathering techniques. After reviewing a number of complicated techniques, they decided to build a better mousetrap. The key was to develop a simplified technique and to make it non technical to contributors. Out of this came "Method H" which takes less then 15 minutes to explain to users. Neville Turbit, a director of Project Perfect explained the concept. "It is really simple. A Business Analyst will focus users on five areas: . Inputs: What do people give you? . Outputs: What do you give people? . Data: What do you want to keep track of (nouns)? . Functionality: What do you do (starting with a verb)? . Business Rules: What rules apply? Our tool allows you to use a screen or projector to fill in the information. Since we developed it four years ago we have had people amazed by the simplicity of the technique. It focuses users on one screen to explain their needs. The name came about because we present the information in a "H" shape. Our white paper at http://www.projectperfect.com.au/info_method_h.php explains the process in detail." The software was initially a quick and dirty Access development to capture details. It has since been rewritten and refined to also capture notes, and arrange the information into business processes. Information can also be segregated by interview and the results output into an Excel worksheet. Price is A$35 which is about US$26. It is an inexpensive tool. One purchaser commented that she would spend that on paper for one project. The software can be bought online and downloaded for immediate use.
