Massive voter turnout can override attempts at vote fraud, author says.



DENVER (November 2, 2006) -- Calling for an unprecedented alliance of progressives
and libertarians, GLOBAL SENSE author Judah Freed today urged rights and liberties
activists from across the political spectrum to join forces in getting voters to the
polls on election day, November 7.

\"The Bush administration has launched the greatest assault on our rights and
liberties since King George III forced American colonists into rebellion more than
200 years ago,\" said Freed, and international media and politics journalist who\'s
written a modern update of \"Common Sense\" by Thomas Paine, the 1776 essay that
inspired the war for independence. \"The only way to stop the attacks on the U.S.
Constitution by today\'s King George is to elect a Democratic Congress in 2006 and
hold his administration accountable.\"

To counter the threats of voter suppression and voting machine tampering, Freed
asserted, \"the best option is to vote in such massive numbers that even the most
blatant vote fraud cannot stop the landslide of public opinion against Bush.\" He
noted that George W. Bush\'s \"ill-conceived\" war in Iraq
has yielded the lowest job approval ratings of any U.S. president, dipping to barely
30 percent.

Freed aims to empower citizens for action. \"Too many of us feel powerless,\" he said.
\"We believe that our lives and our votes cannot make any actual difference. We think
that we\'re too small and weak to matter in the grand scheme of things.

\"In reality,\" he continued, \"because we\'re all globally interconnected, everything
we think, say and do has an effect in the world. Our daily choices merge with the
daily choices of others to co-create our families, our workplaces, our communities,
our nations, and our world. Rather than being powerless, we actually are deeply
powerful. We choose to believe we are powerless, perhaps, because we may fear
accepting personal and social responsibility for our true global power.\"

As a practical step, Freed encourages activists from progressives on the left to
libertarians on the right to call one another\'s local organizations and offer to
help with phone calling and door knocking in these final days before the election.
He suggests that local groups pool their resources to help get voters to the polls.

\"Success depends on seeing that it\'s in our common interests to stop the Bush
agenda.\" Freed said. \"We need to roll up our sleeves and start working together
now.\"
