Press Release Body = 2007 is predicted to be the hottest year since records began and some 60% of Britons plan to take a trip within the British Isles against some 27% going abroad. With increasing temperatures we need to be sure that we protect ourselves against the harmful effects of the sun while enjoying the outdoors. Cancer Research UK tells us that too much sun exposure causes skin cancer and studies indicate that sunburn during childhood can double a person's risk of skin cancer in later life. Exposure to the sun in the UK is just as dangerous as that in many holiday destinations abroad.
There are an estimated 100,000 cases of skin cancer diagnosed every year in the UK, malignant melanoma accounts for about 8000 of these and is the more serious type, claiming 1800 lives a year. Most skin cancer is preventable through the use of appropriate sun protective clothing, sun screams and a sensible approach to the sun.
Sun protective clothing is relatively new to the UK; it was pioneered in Australia and has been a major player in reducing the incidence of Skin Cancer among Australians.
Rita Panayides founded Suninsight Ltd to make Australian sun protective clothing available to people in Europe and the UK. Having been diagnosed with malignant melanoma in 2000 Rita was aware how difficult it is to source fashionable sun protection for adults as well as children in the UK. Suninsight Ltd provides clothing for sport, beach and casual wear and offers information to help people understand the need to stay safe in the sun.
The Suninsight Ltd range of clothing is specially designed and made from lightweight tightly woven fabric and features shorts, tops as well as hats. The company continues to expand its product range and is supplying sun protection products to people with a range of conditions associated with sun sensitivity such as skin cancers, Lupus, and rosecea as well as people who are actively trying to protect themselves and keep their families safe in the sun. Suninsight can be found online at www.suninsight.com
Skin Cancer including non-melanoma skin cancer and malignant melanoma is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the UK, melanoma is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer among those aged between 20-39 in the UK; with a sensible approach to sun protection which includes sun protective clothing these numbers can surely be reduced.
