Press Release Body = When you go live with the Live from 205 news crew, there\'s no time for a breakdown in communication. That\'s why this Palos Verdes High School news team, winner of 12 Student Television Network awards, relies on Anchor Audio\'s PortaCom Pro wireless intercom system during all their live newscasts.
Rene Vela, the Video Production Teacher at PV High, says, "We were in need of a user-friendly wireless intercom system so our producer in the booth could be in contact with everyone on the news floor from our camera directors and floor manager to our audio operators and teleprompters." He adds, "The PortaCom Pro was the ideal solution for our news team because it allowed all the students with a headset and belt pack to communicate and provide instruction during our live tapings and not distract the news anchors."
Once a headset and belt pack are given to all the necessary members of the news team and powered on, all users are instantly locked into the PortaCom Pro\'s patent-pending Omni Point Expandable Network (OPEN) that recognizes human speech patterns, enabling it to limit full duplex communication to just two users at once. This enhances understanding since only two people speak at a time while the rest of the group listens, and a new user can speak as soon as a channel is clear.
Designed for simplicity, the PortaCom Pro can be used by anyone. "Our students work around the clock sometimes well into the evening to produce the best show possible and it\'s nice to have a reliable easy to use intercom system to communicate all our behind the scene directions without a hitch," states Rene Vela. Getting started is as simple as connecting one of the comfortable, light-weight noise-canceling headsets to a body pack; placing the body pack on a belt or pocket; then turning it on and starting communication. Allowing up to 15 user group channels and a separate "All Call" channel, the PortaCom Pro can bring any size group together. Each user group can contain an unlimited number of users and unlike most traditional wireless intercom systems, all users in the PortaCom Pro network are not tied down to a central base station. Voice activation allows the PortaCom Pro to conserve battery power and LED lights indicate when the battery is low. The system is available in four or six packs consisting of headsets, wireless belt packs, power supply wall chargers, and a protective case with custom cut foam.
