Press Release Body = New York and San Jose, Calif. - March 20, 2007 - SolegyT, a provider of a managed Service Delivery Platform (SDP) for VoIP, IMS and other next generation services announced that it has integrated XMPP-based instant messaging from Jive Software into its ServicePDQT platform.
Announced today at Spring VON (Booth #236), the Real Time Collaboration (RTC) capabilities will be integrated through a plug-in to Jive Software's Spark RTC client and the Openfire RTC server, which also includes stand-alone VoIP capabilities. When used in conjunction with Solegy's ServicePDQ platform, the solution will allow service providers to seamlessly combine encrypted VoIP service with secure instant messaging and presence, resulting in enhanced security and a richer end-user experience.
"This is an important first step in the ongoing convergence of voice and collaborative services," stated Stu Sleppin, Solegy president. "Enterprise instant messaging is becoming as ubiquitous as email. The integration of encrypted voice with secure instant messaging is a potent combination for small and medium businesses. In addition to greater productivity through enhanced collaboration, the solution solves a potential dilemma for organizations that might otherwise rely on public instant messaging services such as Skype or MSN Messenger. We are delighted to make a significant contribution to the open source community in the process. Along with Jive Software's Spark RTC client and Openfire RTC server, this partnership represents a shining example of open source software at its best."
Service provider clients that deploy the Solegy-enabled Spark RTC client will be able to make and receive calls to individuals in their buddy list to or from a landline, mobile phone or PC. In addition, Spark users will be able to modify their contact and call forwarding rules directly from the client interface. A typical usage scenario would be forwarding office calls to a mobile phone when a user's status - as indicated on the Spark client - is "Away from Desk."
"Real time collaboration products like Spark and Openfire let businesses fuel the speed and efficiency of their communications and close distance barriers," said Sam Lawrence, chief marketing officer for Jive Software. "The solution's new voice capabilities provides companies with yet another valuable embedded business process that can contribute to productivity and extend to the bottom line."
Because Solegy is also making the basic Spark plug-in freely downloadable as part of its Open Source SIP project (http://www.opensourcesip.org), anyone can transform the Spark client into a fully functional SIP softphone, which can be registered to any SIP PBX or VoIP calling service. To date, this combination is the only freely available, open source software to combines these capabilities.
