Press Release Body = HOMER, ALASKA - May 3, 2007 - In a town known for its charm, spectacular views, Tom Bodett, Jewell and the Eagle Lady, a good number of Homer's 4000 eclectic residents pride themselves as active non-profit volunteers working for a better world. As with all modern non-profit organizations, finding creative funding sources is a concern. Along comes the Jon Faulkner, owner of Land\'s End Resort and Lodges at the end of the Homer Spit. After Mr. Faulkner, 45 recently underwent heart surgery, he began to wonder if he'd given enough back.
From the "Last Frontier" to the "Past Frontier", Homer has gracefully moved from the End of the Road to the Beginning and into the world of chic destinations. Former City Council member Kurt Marquardt says, "There are plenty of wild places left in Alaska, but Homer has become the Frontier Riviera."
The last available waterfront lodge on the Homer Spit is currently UP FOR BID at www.generousadventures.com, and the profits from its sale will benefit a group of non-profit organizations. The final bid will be taken online, by fax, phone or in person at a dinner on May 20th, in Homer.
"This concept is timeless and universal," says professional fundraiser and auction producer, Sally Oberstein. "It's more than just fundraising. It's collaborative, it has major tax consequences for the buyer and seller, and opens all kinds of doors for future fundraising."
