Press Release Body = NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y.-- Symbio Technologies (www.symbio-technologies.com), an innovator in stateless computing, has been named a winner of the 12th annual Averell Harriman International Trade Awards hosted by the World Trade Council of Westchester, the international trade forum of The Westchester County Association (www.westchester.org).
The Averell Harriman Awards honor companies and individuals whose international business achievements highlight the importance of international trade to the economic vitality of the Hudson Valley. A startup in 2002, Symbio Technologies was honored in the "New to International" category for its global distribution and sales efforts in Australia, Canada, Chile, Israel, Mexico, Pakistan, South Africa and the U.K. The award was presented on May 22, 2007 at the Tappan Hill Mansion in Tarrytown.
"The Westchester County Association (WCA) and its World Trade Council is pleased to recognize and honor Symbio Technologies as a young and entrepreneurial company that has made its mark on the world stage," said Amy Allen, managing director of advocacy and international business for the WCA.
"In just a few short years, Symbio Technologies has spread its wings from New Rochelle to reach to Europe, Asia, Australasia and South America," Ms. Allen said. "Symbio was recognized in the 'New to International' category, as international distribution and sales have certainly become part and parcel of the company's business model."
Gideon Romm, co-founder with Roger Del Russo of Symbio Technologies, said his company "was honored to receive this award and be in the company of Nokia, Konica Minolta and other world-class companies in Westchester and the Hudson Valley.
"While Symbio started in Westchester, said Mr. Del Russo, "we immediately recognized the importance of the international market, and are very proud that our products are being sold and used around the world."
The award was the second for Symbio Technologies in less than six months. In November it received an Export Achievement Certificate from the U.S. Department of Commerce, with Congresswoman Nita M. Lowey citing the company as "an excellent example of how U.S. small and medium-sized businesses have worked to increase their bottom line through exports that support jobs here at home."
