Press Release Body = June 13, 2007 - Orange Beach, AL - June\'s \'Third Sunday\' performer will be the legendary Gove Scrivenor. Gove will be performing at the Orange Beach Art Center on Canal Road on Sunday, June 17th, from 4:00 to 7:00pm.
Gove has performed with music greats like Delbert Mc Clinton, Jimmy Buffett, John Prine, Nanci Griffith and he was nominated for an Emmy for his performance with The Amazing Rhythm Aces on the popular PBS television show Austin City Limits.
Gove currently lives in Hendersonville, North Carolina, a charming town just south of Asheville, NC. His move to North Carolina came in the fall of 2004 after having lived in Orange Beach, AL for 10 years. Gove was touring in North Carolina when Hurricane Ivan came ashore in Orange Beach. His house was destroyed and he figured it was time for a change.
Gove\'s appearance at the Art Center will be his first in Orange Beach since his move to North Carolina.
\"Gove\'s voice is dark and deep, yet ready, unusually expressive. He avoids the extremes, the rock singer\'s aggressive bellow and the folksinger\'s monotone. He has impressive control over his performance; he knows exactly what he wants, and he produces it flawlessly. Gove\'s Southern accent is the right blend of gentle slur, for the blues, and nasality, for country songs. Considering the mediocrities who sell out concerts and make gold records you\'ve got to wonder what people like Gove Scrivenor are doing on top of pool tables.\" writes A. B. Thomas with the Richmond Times Dispatch, after seeing one of Gove\'s performances.
Gove has traveled all over the U.S. and Australia performing for adoring fans and receiving standing ovations. Gove has released numerous albums in his music career. His first album was released in 1969, when albums were really albums (as oppose to today\'s CDs). Some of the album titles include: Shady Gove, Coconut Gove, Shine On, Solid Gove, and his latest release titled Made of Sand.
Gove\'s live performances have been described as an \"eclectic blend of high energy folk blues, and thought provoking vocals\". His powerful raspy voice, along with his masterful picking of the acoustic guitar and the autoharp, has thrilled audiences for decades in two hemispheres.
