Interwise Connect Chosen by EU Research Consortium MYCAREVENT for International Project Communication and Collaboration

MYCAREVENT is a 3-year project co-financed by the European Commission’s Information Society Technology program. Through the efforts of its industry-leading members, the project is enabling the broad development and adoption of new technologies, standards and business models across the EU automotive services aftermarket. The automotive market is one of the most important and complex industries in the EU. It represents about €84 billion in annual spending, of which aftermarket service, maintenance and repairs account for nearly half. Changes in automobile information creation, storage and exchange, such as the opportunity to make more extensive and validated car repair information available to professionals via mobile devices, will create new business opportunities for aftermarket service providers.
MYCAREVENT’s members, which include leading car manufacturers such as BMW, DaimlerChrysler and Volkswagen, DIN (the German Institute for Standardization), ESG (a leading system and software house in Germany), mobile solutions provider Care2Wear, telecommunications provider Telefonica I&D and others, will use Interwise Connect to facilitate their joint working groups and pilot programs. In addition to daily collaboration, Interwise is helping the members optimise their decision processes, resulting in projects and plans completing on time.

Interwise Connect is extensively used as communication means by the consortium to develop innovative solutions in a distributed development environment. One example is the development of mobile applications used by authorized and independent repairers situated in garages and at roadsides. Some of the first requirements addressed include the concepts of mobile vehicle identification, retrieval of relevant technical tips and repair information, and the creation of meta-tagged technical content.
Another showcase example is interactive circuit diagrams that provide repair professionals with more complete and animated information for handling vehicle wiring schemas—as opposed to today’s mostly static and paper-based approach. A last example is Mobilscan®, the world´s first Symbian mobile phone based car diagnostics system, developed during the project’s runtime.
