Author, Nikki Oldaker is actively shopping the story to film production companies to produce a Tilden documentary. She believes every voter, student and history teacher in America should study him and his views on corruption and political reform. Tilden was Governor of New York when he shut down the infamous William \"Boss\" Tweed and Canal rings. His story is where election corruption began and as we all know still exists in the United States.
Mr. Tilden up until his death never conceded his Presidency because he firmly believed he won. For years after the election was over, people begged him to run again... news reporters wrote about him daily because the public wanted to know his thoughts when it came to important political decisions for the county. When he died in 1886 VIP political dignitaries, high society and everyday citizens attended his funeral and lined the streets and railways from New York City to upstate New Lebanon, NY to pay their last respects.
Nikki Oldaker is "a natural" who excels at whatever she undertakes. She plunged into her political breech in the 1992 Democratic Political Convention and two more successive ones managing "The VIP Backstage Room" for candidates and speakers who went before the TV cameras. In addition, she ran as a U.S. Senate write in candidate for Florida during election 2000 and was stunned when the repeat of Tilden/Hayes happened to Al Gore.
Currently Oldaker is editing the 600 page version of the "Life of Samuel J. Tilden," written by John Bigelow which will be added as a bonus book with her book. The release date is scheduled for 2008. Oldaker declares, "There is a wealth of knowledge in Bigelow's writings about Tilden. His writing come straight from the horse's mouth. Others, more famous writers, like Roy Morris and Chief Justice Rehnquist to name a few, wrote about the 1876 election fiasco. Neither explained how a NY Times Managing editor late in the night woke up a drunk and defeated Republican Chairman to convince him to assist in the conspiracy. Early the morning after the election, the NY Times printed "Election in Doubt." That headline struck such a cord of confusion in the news industry it caused every newspaperman across the country to question the outcome of the election. Does that sound like Deja Vu to you?\"
