Press Release Summary: Tells how Thymly Products produce many ingredients that we eat every day.
Press Release Body: Thymly Products, Inc.
Right off a small road in the northern part of Maryland sits a small company called Thymly Products Inc. It sits back from the road and is sheltered by the local fruit trees, allowing you to pass by and not even realize its presence. However, this hidden jewel is a multi-million dollar business that makes its living by selling food grade ingredients which go into foods we eat everyday.
It all started back in 1966 when H.T. Muller-Thym decided to manufacture baking ingredients to meet the bread company's needs. In July of 1988, Harry T. Muller-Thym, Jr. was given the reigns after his father's passing, but Harry was no stranger to the baking industry. With a degree from the American Institute of Baking, his familiar face and friendships he had throughout the baking community, he was the clear choice to be the next president of Thymly Products in which he still resides today.
Thymly started out with the idea of helping the white bread and roll bakers. However, over the last 40 years they have found themselves growing not only in size, but also into different markets. Today, Thymly can be found in breads, cakes, prepared foods, pharmaceuticals and now the restaurant industry. In addition to selling ingredients, Thymly also works in a consulting capacity to better serve their clients. They work to solve problems and create new product lines to help clients grow their business.
Their newest market is the Restaurant and Food Distributors side of the industry. Thymly said the main driving force behind this new focus was when Wilkens Rogers, or Washington Foods, decided to pull out and focus their attention on what they do best, milling the corn and the flour. Since then, Thymly has developed a full line for this growing industry, including various breaders, hushpuppy and cake mixes. Some might think you would only need one recipe for each; however, Thymly doesn't see things that way. They believe that every customer has different tastes, and they want to have the perfect item to meet their customers' expectations. Thymly says that this is not really a challenge for them but rather a nice compliment to their current lines, which seems to be true as evident in the rapid growth of this line.
Until recently, Thymly focused on large volume customers who would buy their product in 50 pound sacks with a quantity of no less than 100 sacks per order. However, with their new focus in the restaurant business, Thymly is now happy to offer smaller companies the option of buying only a few pounds at a time. This has opened doors for small companies and allowed them to get the quality products the larger companies have been getting for years without the large volume.
Harry, the president of Thymly, was quick to say that he has not forgotten his beloved bread industry, and that they still focus their marketing in that direction too. Laughing, he said, "I guess once a bread baker, always a bread baker." Harry started working in the bread business at Koester's Bakery in Baltimore. Since then, he has been to numerous bakeries over the years, both large and small, helping them solve their problems or occasionally just to chat about the old days when it was all done by hand.
Today, Thymly's products can not only be found in Maryland, but they can be seen from sea to shining sea and even internationally with several of their distributors' accounts. From the looks of things, Thymly is not planning on settling down anytime soon. They continue to receive high marks from both the Food and Drug Administration and their independent H.A.C.A.A.P. review team who is American Institute of Baking for operating a safe and effective plant. Now, Harry is proud to say that his son, Trey Muller-Thym, has been working with the company for five years and is continuing his education in the food industry at the same school he graduated. Trey's take on the future of Thymly, "No matter which direction the food market goes, we just plan to exceed our customer's expectations in service, quality and innovations for food ingredients." Thymly's team continues to develop new products to meet the current trends, and now with this father and son duo, they only see potential and are eager to see what the future has in store for the company they have watched grow. So, next time you grab a loaf of bread, jar of olives or even stop to get fried chicken, you might just be eating some of Thymly's work.
