Press Release Summary: The rising cost of living and increasing pressures on household finances have caused the Yuppies on the 1980s to become today\'s anxious majority.
Press Release Body: That is according to LV=, which says that the hedonistic spending of the \'greed is good\' era is now a thing of the past for most of those involved.
It is bad news if you are looking for someone to buy your property as it means many people could be facing repossession.
According to the survey, around half of all Yuppies say that they struggle to live within their means and 70 per cent say that they should have saved more.
Worryingly, the top worry for the majority of the former Yuppies is keeping up with mortgage payments.
\"Our research on Yuppies has found that yesterday\'s privileged minority appears to have become part of today\'s anxious majority,\" said Nigel Snell, director at LV=.
\"Despite the champagne lifestyle and optimism of the time, our research reveals that many former high flyers have ended up no better off than the average midlife family.
\"They are just as worried about meeting the monthly bills, the cost of bringing up their kids and how they will fund their old age,\" added Mr Snell.
Fast property sale expert Julian King says, \"It\'s not just Yuppies that are affected by the current situation.
\"People looking to sell their house quick are finding it increasingly difficult in a downward market that is devoid of an appropriate amout of buyers to keep prices at an acceptable level.
\"Although we may agree that property prices have been grossly overvalued over the past few years, anyone looking to sell in the coming year will find thousands wiped off their value from the summer this year\".
Mr King is a director of the UK\'s leading fast property sale company National Homebuyers. The company offers to make a guaranteed offer to buy any property in the UK for vendors who need a quick sale.
