Press Release Body: Creative Writing tutor Candi Miller has recently been
shortlisted for the 2008 World Book Day Award for her Africa-set novel Salt & Honey.
The novel was chosen by the World Book Day panel to be in the top 100 'Books to Talk
About' as part of their new nationwide 'Spread the Word' campaign.

Miller, who grew up in South Africa but now lives and teaches in the UK, wrote the
striking debut novel after ten years of research, including an expedition to the
Kalahari Desert in Southern Africa where she temporarily lived with one of the San
tribes. The book was published in July 2006 by young independent publishing company
Legend Press.

Book lovers are being encouraged to vote en masse around the country for their
favourite titles and the ten books which receive the highest number of votes will be
promoted in chain bookshops and libraries in the run up to World Book Day in March.
The author of the overall winning book will receive a £5000 cash prize. To help Salt
& Honey make the top ten, book fans can cast their votes via the publisher's website
www.legendpress.co.uk

Salt & Honey has received countless rave reviews and is described as 'unique, moving
and beautifully-written'. It is set in during Apartheid and features a bushgirl
displaced from her Kalahari desert-tribe. Through it, Miller offers the reader a
rare and unique glimpse into an endangered culture and, as well as continuing to
receive great acclaim in the UK, the book has huge international appeal having been
sold so far into seven editions worldwide.

Tom Chalmers, MD of Legend Press said: 'This recent shortlisting for the World Book
Day Award just proves what a special book Salt & Honey is. I've got a feeling that
it's not the kind of book that will ever stop being read or talked about.'

Copies of the book are available at all good bookshops and online outlets, and also
direct from the publisher at www.legendpress.co.uk
