Cody and Bill Mullennix win big during the North TX Trophy Cats Lake Lavon tournament

Press Release Summary: A cool December day at Lake Lavon Texas set the scene for a big win at the first ever North Texas Trophy catfishing tournament.
Press Release Body: The Father/Son catfishing team of Cody and Bill Mullennix hailing from Howe Texas seperated from the competion on Saturday December 8th with a massive weigh-in of 167lb of Blue Catfish. The next best weight was in the 80 lb. range. Cody and Father Bill live in the Lake Texoma/Lavon area and were excited to get the chance to fish the winter tourney at Lake Lavon TX.
We caught up with Cody after the tournament and had him explain how he caught his Blue Catfish at Lake Lavon. Cody replied,\" They started out fishing the tops of humps in the shallow water 14-18 feet of water. Then he moved into deeper water humps 30-36 feet of water.\" They approached these humps by anchor fishing. The bait of choice that Cody used was cut buffalo/carp and gizzard shad.
Cody, Can you tell us about the different kinds of equipment that you used to catch your Blue Catfish? Cody used Team Catfish Fish Grips, Team Catfish Double Action Circle Hooks, Shakespeare Ugly Stick, Pflueger Sinning reels and Contendor casting reels, 65 lb Power Pro braid and 50 lb mono leader line.
What were the weather conditions and water temperature like? Cody replied, \"The weather was cloudy, a bit overcast, starting out in the morning and as the day went on it warmed up.The wind switched to the south at 15-20 mph. Water temperature was varying from 64-60 degrees.
Cody, How would you rate the catfishing at Lake Levon? Cody replied, \"It was excellent for trophy Blue Catfish.\"
