Press Release Summary: Nothing is as romantic to a man as a woman who understands
(or at least doesn't make fun of) his passion for golf. The following story
simplifies buying gifts for that hard-to-read significant other who plays golf.

Press Release Body: It's getting closer and closer to Christmas, and you are trying
to come up with something special and unique for the golfers on your list. The
problem is you don't know - or care to know - the difference between an iron and a
wood.
Here is a handy guide to buying gifts for the golfer in your life.

How much do you want to spend? If you just need a stocking stuffer for your golfer,
then consider a couple of golf gloves. A glove is worn in the weaker hand to
strengthen the grip. For instance, a right hand person will wear a left-hand glove.
Try to make sure you get the right size; gloves usually come in sizes ranging from
small to extra large.

More and more golfers, including professionals, are exploring hybrid clubs. The
hybrid club provides more loft and more yardage with less effort than a wood or an
iron by combining the qualities of both. "These clubs are more forgiving of
shortcomings in technique, and their more lightweight and shorter shaft makes them
easier to handle, both on the fairway and in the rough," says Sven Kessler, Edwin
Watts Golf's vice president of retail operations.

Is he or she new to the game? If your golfer is new to the game, then she or he
might need a lot of golf balls. Most beginners use two piece balls, which consists
of the core and a cover. "Their low compression and side spin reduction
characteristics suit the lower swing speeds of average golfers, and they generally
cost less than advanced balls," says Kessler.

A more experienced golfer may benefit from a rangefinder. Manufacturers of these
products use Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) technology to map golf courses.
Rangefinder owners can use these devices to find yardages to the front, middle and
back of the green, among other things.

What's your climate? "Every golfer can performance benefit from apparel made from
synthetic blend fibers - such as those found in Greg Norman's PlayDry, Nike's
DRI-FIT and Cutter & Buck's DryTec lines - that wick away moisture and prevent
wrinkles," says Kessler.

Golfers in colder climates may need outerwear that is warm, yet still offers freedom
of movement to provide an unrestricted golf swing. Consider outerwear from the
Adidas Climaproof, Callaway and FootJoy Dryjoy Performance lines.

You don't have to know the game of golf to buy for your golfers. Use the lingo found
in the above answers with the salespeople at your local golf retailer, and they will
be able to help you find the perfect gift for your loved one. And, if the above
questions fail to help you narrow down your gift search, then you can always buy a
gift card.
