The pan African Mandingo Trio is ready with a new repertoire of live African music and rhythmic poetry. In addition to live performance by Mandingo Trio, the resident Dj will be spinning music from a variety of genres to keep the masses hot throughout the night.
Mandingo Trio, comprised of Aliou Cissokho (kora, vocal) from Senegal, Ali Jabang (djembe, vocal) from Gambia and Nasibu aka Ras Nas (dun dun, kenkeni and poetry) from Tanzania, is a tight unit. Their combination of Swahili and Mandingo cultures is proving to be potent. The trio blends ancient and contemporary African music in a manner that has garnered respect from fans and critics alike. In addition, the Trio uses English and French languages.
Klubb Mantra is a concept whereby live music, rhythmic poetry and dj sesssions intertwine. The event is organised by Kongoi Media Productions in collaboration with Verkstedet Bar, one of the hippest and intimate clubs in Oslo.
Mandingo Trio has played in a number of festivals, like Oslo Mela, Zanzibar International Film Festival as well as Bergen World Music Festival. The Trio has also collaborated with musicians like Knut Reiersrud, one of the top notch blues guitarists in Norway, and Abuwa, the Afrobeat musician from Nigeria.
