Press Release Summary: Bosses swap suits for aprons
Press Release Body: Staff at Peak District hotel and restaurant The Maynard are to receive an unexpected treat this Christmas in the shape of a full English breakfast cooked by the Hotel's management. Director Paul Downing and wife Liz, The Maynard's marketing manager, will swap their suits for aprons on Christmas morning and let the staff enjoy a well earned morning off.
Both Paul and Liz are trained chefs; Paul has worked for a number of large organisations including the Conran Group, and Liz is also familiar with breakfast service having worked at several establishments including the Rutland Arms Hotel in Bakewell.
Paul Downing, director at The Maynard, said: "The hotel and restaurant are both open on Christmas day and it is one of our busiest times of year. Many of the staff are rostered to work on Christmas Day so we thought it would be a nice idea to at least give them the morning off.
"It has been an exciting year for The Maynard with the successful refurbishment of our restaurant and we wanted to show our appreciation to the staff for all their hard work throughout the year.
"In returning to the kitchen ourselves to produce a full English breakfast for the staff, we are thanking them for their efforts this year and at the same time also hopefully showing that we do understand what it's like to work in a busy kitchen. Neither of us have worked in a kitchen for many years, so we're hoping that we come up to the grade and can deliver the high standards that our customers have become used to expecting."
The Maynard is fully booked for Christmas Day, although a few places are still available in the restaurant on certain days over the Christmas and New year period. For bookings and further information call 01433 630321.
