Press Release Summary: TeleNav identifies top reasons American drivers run late.
Press Release Body: Sunnyvale, Calif. - December 7, 2007 - With increased road congestion and the fast pace of today\'s American lifestyle, arriving late is a growing problem that could be alleviated with the use of GPS navigation services, concludes TeleNav following a recent online consumer poll.
The nearly 430 poll respondents cited the following reasons most often when arriving late to their destination: - Traffic (74%) - Poor directions (8%) - Road construction (8%) - Unable to find a parking structure (6%) - Needed gas (4%)
In addition, CareerBuilder.com recently disclosed that 16% of workers arrive late to work at least once a week, and 31% attributed their delayed arrivals to traffic(1).
Further results from TeleNav\'s survey reveal that 35% of respondents would like to receive a GPS navigation service on their cell phone as a gift this holiday season. The Consumer Electronics Association also identified that 33% of future GPS buyers are interested in owning a cell phone that has GPS / navigation capabilities(2).
\"With today\'s advanced cell phone technology, arriving late should become less and less of an issue,\" said HP Jin, TeleNav president, CEO and co-founder. \"Services like GPS navigation can help in every day situations and reduce stress for people on-the-go.\"
GPS applications on cell phones have the advantage of a wireless network connection that provides access to real-time information, including traffic alerts and rerouting, as well as up-to-date maps and directions. Mobile location-based services can also quickly access databases that provide listings for important places like gas stations and parking structures.
TeleNav offers TeleNav GPS Navigator(tm), a cell phone navigation service that provides voice and on-screen turn-by-turn directions. The most recent version includes new social-networking features such as location sharing as well as provides traffic alerts with one-click rerouting.
