Press Release Summary: Miami International Inline Marathon Teamed up with the Tru-Rev Palm Beach Challenge for a Loaded Weekend of Racing January 18-21, 2008
Press Release Body: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Greenacres/Cooper City , FL January 18-21, 2008. On January 18 the opening events with start indoor at the Atlantis Skateway in Greeenacres, FL at 6:00 pm. The opening events will include the two, three and four person relay races. Continuing on January 19 doors will open at 5 am at the Atlantis Skateway for a full day of inline racing. Indoor racing is more common in the United States. The track is about 100 meters in circumference and is marked by four pylons that create a rectangular shaped track. The race events or \"meets\" are typically structured with skaters divided up by age division and classification. When each race is about to start, up to nine skaters will take the track, in many cases the divisions are so numreous that heats will have to be run in order for skaters to qualify for the final race. On January 20 the events move outside to the Brian Piccolo Park Velodrome & Bank Track. Here skaters will compete on the 200 meter banked track. The races scheduled for this event will be 500 meter, 1,000 meter, 1,500 meter and Points Elimination Race. An Elimination race, also known as \"last man out\" is when the last placed skater is eliminated from the competition each time the pack of skaters completes a lap or when they complete a certain specified lap number. At one or two laps to go before the finish, with just a few remaining skaters, the one to cross the finish line is the winner. When it is a Points Elimination Race the points are calculated to the first, second and third place skaters to cross the line at certain specified laps and are awarded points. Laps late in the race are worth more points, with the final lap being worth the most points of all. It is possible to win a points race without actually being first to cross the finish line in the end, it is the skater with the most points earned during the competition. On January 21 at 7 am The Anagural Miami International Inline Marathon will take place. Brian Piccolo Park is home to the best criterium inline skating course in the country. The Criterium Course was designed for cyclist and inline skaters. This paved course consists of a 500 meter and an 800 meter loop track. The Miami International Inline Marathon will start on the criterium course and run throughout the park for a series of laps totaling the 42K. Social events are to include a Re-Load Dinner at Bellante\'s on Sunday, January 20 and the After Party on Monday, January 21 at Seminole Hard Rock & Casino Knights Billards.
