And also imagine not knowing how to tell those companies hungry for labor-saving products about the ingenious system.
David Zuhl, the inventor of the Modular Forming System ( US Patent # 5,922,236) , got the inspiration for his creation while doing backhoe excavation. "You have a lot of time to think creatively while sitting on that machine and digging trenches," said Zuhl. "I began thinking about how to eliminate a lot of time and labor by pouring the footings and the wall both at the same time. Then I drew up the plans, built the MFS and used it in my own construction applications, and it was fantastic."
The only problem was that Zuhl, who applied for and received a patent for his device, had no idea how to market it. "There are so many companies that would benefit from this but I was so busy and I'm not a marketing guy so I didn't know how to get the word out about the MFS," says Zuhl.
The patented "MFS" creates a geometrically superior concrete wall and footing by allowing the pouring of the concrete foundation footings and walls simultaneously. Some of the benefits are:

Zuhl constructed his first MFS using steel, but has recently developed an aluminum form that is much easier to transport and allows and even faster setting of the foundation.
