Press Release Summary: Kevin Goodman was once benchmarked for leadership in an international organization that claims as members some of Europes most prominent noble and royal families. Surrendering vanity Kevin shares his story of failing virtues, European Bluebloods, and unscrupulous Americans who seek the ultimate vanity.
Press Release Body: Kevin D Goodman, Executive for Sundown MC has formally renounced an honor that many believe is an ancient Knighthood. The Order of St. Lazarus has many ardent and prominent supporters from Roman Catholic Cardinal Bishops, the Archbishop of Canterbury, British Peers, and Spanish and French Royals and yet Kevin asserts the Order is False. Kevin had been invested as an officer in the order at Gozo Cathedral in Malta, in spring of 2007. For a time Kevin was benchmarked for American leadership as the numerous email correspondences with Malta's Chancellor testify.
Kevin pledged to support the Orders democratized branch the 'United Grand Priories'. Kevin was also promised the recognition of an American commandery and then priory after achieving a certain membership. Kevin had also been requested to draw plans for an academic based honor society that would be sponsored by the order. A plan Kevin proposed that was positively encouraged by the Maltese chancellor. Thus the assumption was that Kevin was benchmarked for 'high' rank in the international order.
Kevin grew weary after communications were strained. After conducting some private research Kevin began doubting the leadership of the Order and the Legitimacy of the Order in whole. The order of Saint Lazarus has been controversial for a hundred years now. It is currently in a state of turmoil and divided between three main branches that are generally recognized as being legitimate. Despite having earned significant praise for charity the Sovereign Military Order of Malta asserts the real order of Saint Lazarus disappeared long ago. Kevin contacted the Vatican's Diplomat to the US and was asserted by his holiness the Apostolic Nuncio that the Vatican maintains an assertion that the Order of St. Lazarus is a false Order.
Kevin says he really became disillusioned with the 'So-called chivalric order' after contacting representatives from other branches. "There was an absolute bitterness, these people behaved exactly opposite as the virtues of chivalry dictate". Kevin goes on to say that a particular splinter group "manifested the worst kind of snobbery". "That was the turning point and it only got worst". After Kevin communicated his prowling to superiors he was sharply warned "It was clear that they expected absolute obedience". "That evidently included me not doing private research - call that cultic?"
Kevin continued to send updates to the Nuncio and furthered his communications with a splinter group led by French Royalist. "There was a point when I awoke from my disillusionment." "I communicated my resignation to the Nuncio and was praised by his assistant." "They assured me my observations are noted and forwarded". Kevin doesn't know how an organization can meet disapproval by Rome and be led by cardinal bishops but speculates it tolerates the Order based on the power of its membership. "The order of Saint Lazarus has been very successful at recruiting those who are very prominent." Kevin goes on to state that he believes the Order is the most accomplished hoax in a hundred years, a view seemingly shared by the Vatican.
Kevin continues "there is nothing chivalric or romantic about the constant infighting within the organization". A "knighthood is supposed to be based on virtues but for the order of St. Lazarus virtue is scoured by vanity in a strive for supremacy and legitimacy." "Those old men who claim the order of St. Lazarus are likely going to die without honor and befall a memory counter to the one they sought." Kevin offers a stern warning for those considering pledging to any group called the 'Order of St. Lazarus'. "There are chivalric organizations out there that are not controversial and are free to do good works rather than spend so much energy justifying their actions." Kevin recommends that anybody considering membership in the Order of St. Lazarus contact and get the advice of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta or the Venerable Order of St. John.
