Press Release Summary: This novel follows Greg as he embarks on an extended holiday travelling the length of Britain during several weeks.
Press Release Body: Greg encounters characters who are helpful as well as colourful, whilst he finds himself involved in two parallel missions as he travels to Cape Wrath - "halfway between Ramsgate and Reykjavik\". This is a quirky tale of people with seemingly unrelated lives, gradually brought together by a sole traveller. In the same acerbic writing style as Douglas Adams and Peter Tinniswood, the story contains witty dialogue, wordplay, puns, and conversations at cross purposes as Greg allows himself to be swept along into projects on his journey, whilst always retaining his sense of perspective and humour.
About the Author:
J. H. Brogden lives in Yorkshire in England. He is an avid listener of radio plays, interested in Indian philosophy, and passionate about classical/romantic music and European folk music. His writing is inspired by events and characters he has encountered. This is his second full-length novel, having previously published another book entitled Gregorian Chant.
Excerpt from the book:
"As it turned out, it was midnight before his hosts kindly escorted him safely to bed, along with two hot water bottles and a hurricane lamp. It might have looked a cosy scene to anyone window shopping, but his little place of rest was now hidden from the street, the brass rails at the end of the bed having been draped with a trade union banner which depicted a dove perching peacefully on a pitchfork.
"I'll give you a call at 7.30." said Henry as they made their way out, then added "Or I could make that 7.15!"
Greg thanked them all and assured Henry he'd be awake in time. A loud crack of thunder shook the bed. He trusted it was earthed."
