Press Release Summary: NY Giants are offering Atlanta their 1st round pick in April's draft for cornerback.
Press Release Body: Apparently, winning the Super Bowl wasn\'t enough for The New York Giants. According to the Newark Star-Ledger report, in exchange for DeAngelo Hall, Atlanta Falcons\' cornerback, they\'re attempting to trade their first round pick in April\'s draft. Even though the Giants wanted the Raiders\' Nnamdi Asomugha and Seahawks\' Marcus Trufant, both players decided to turn to Hall when they were designated as franchise players. The premier free agent, Patriots cornerback Asante Samuel, isn\'t desirable because he is viewed as a product of New England\'s defense.
The Giants are looking to boost their secondary which was viewed as one of their weaknesses during Super Bowl XLII. Corey Webster, 3rd year veteran, is expected to be one of their starters next season. However, the next cornerback spot is available. Aaron Ross advanced very well in his first season, but isn\'t a shut down corner. Sam Madison, 11 year veteran, is overpaid and is owed $1.47 million in 2008 as well as R.W. McQuarters who is due $2.525 million in 2008. Hall will earn $4.22 million in 2008, but if he\'s traded to the Giants, he will most likely work out a new long-term contract with the team.
