Press Release Body: LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Fire Department Historical Society's (LAFDHS) 2008 Fallen Firefighters Celebrity Golf Tournament will take place March 24, 2008 at Porter Valley Country Club in Northridge.. only a few foursomes remain available. Funds raised will benefit the Society, help launch educational outreach programs for elementary school children, and finalize the Fallen Firefighters' Memorial in Hollywood. "Let's make this year's tournament the event that allows us to complete our Fallen Firefighters' Memorial," said LAFD Battalion Chief Greg Gibson, President of the Historical Society. "It's up to us to carry the torch for these men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting the property and people of the city of Los Angeles." The golf tournament will pair a celebrity with many of the foursomes for the shotgun scramble. Among the celebrities already confirmed to participate are: Pro Surfer Kelly Slater, Ken Howard (Rambo, Cane), Joe Mantegna (CBS's Criminal Minds), Gordon Clapp (Flags of Our Fathers, NYPD Blue), Brett Cullen (Ghost Rider), James B. Sikking (Made of Honor), Ron Perlman (Hellboy), Cathy Lee Crosby, David Leisure and more. They will join with LA's finest in an unforgettable day of golfing beginning with breakfast and contests at 8:30am, two hole-in-ones on the course with automobiles as the coveted prizes from Hamer Toyota and Galpin Motors; a BBQ Lunch on the Green; awards reception, silent auction and more. In the past 121 years, the Los Angeles Fire Department has lost over 250 firefighters. The Fallen Firefighter's Memorial located at the LAFD Museum at Hollywood's Historic Fire Station 27 is a tribute to the selflessness and bravery of those who have fallen in the line of duty.
