Press Release Body: Some not-so-experienced players are also proving their name in this series of Twenty20 matches of the Indian Cricket League. One of these players is TP Singh who is a part of the Chandigarh Lions team which recently won over the Delhi Giants team by 34 runs. Singh scored 38 runs and also took 2 wickets by giving away just 8 runs in his bowling spell.
With the toss won by the Lions, they chose to bat first and the innings was opened by Vincent and Elliot who managed to stay put till the end of power play. They both managed to give a breezy start to the match and managed 44 runs in a partnership. It was then that TP Singh came and saw another partnership build up between him and Elliot. The bowlers struck back by taking 3 quick wickets. The innings then finished with a total of 153 runs on the scoreboard. Benkenstein gathered 2 wickets but had to sacrifice 42 runs in doing so.
The Giants innings saw 12 runs coming off the first over but then the next ball saw departure of Gunawardene. Mishra tried to keep strike with Attapattu but after a couple of overs, got out and went back. The top order batsmen did not contribute much to the score and Attapattu and Bali made something worthwhile by contributing 29 and 31 respectively. The Lions captain Hall however seemed out of luck as he could not get a single wicket and seemed to give 10 runs every over. Tuffey however took 3 wickets by giving away just 15 runs in his spell.
The way the match ended was great enough for the Lions to be proud of, irrespective of individual performances. After all, it's the team which is winning.
