Press Release Body: The launch of Wentworth's new Oyster Stout at the Oakwood Beer Festival proved a real hit amongst real ale fans who consumed the available 360 pints in double quick time. Wentworth will certainly have to brew more next time!
There was an unprecedented demand for Wentworth's Oyster Stout amongst the festival goers despite a choice of approximately 200 different cask ales from breweries across the UK being available. The reigning stout is made from freshly shucked oysters, sourced from a local fishmonger, and has a distinctive liquorice overtone.
Wentworth's Chris Tinker said: "We knew the Oyster Stout was going to be one of our biggest hits but we couldn't have anticipated just how popular it was going to be amongst probably the most sophisticated beer tasters in Britain. The festival attracts devoted real ale experts and If we can please them then we know we are going to be on to a winner."
Oyster Stout will be back in production next week after the Wentworth cellars were run dry following the huge popularity of the real ale at the Rotherham festival held in February. The champion micro-brewery scored a hat-trick at the highly competitive Oakwood Beer festival this year - marking the latest achievement in their impressive array of awards.
The breweries distinguished Bumble Beer scooped the Gold accolade in the speciality beer category followed by their Oatmeal Stout which took Silver in the Stout and Porters category. Rampant Gryphon - a 6.2% golden ale with hints of fruit and sweetness, but which retains a hoppy character - was awarded bronze in the Strong Ale category.
