Press Release Summary: Ric Wharton from Southampton Solent University has been crowned Comedy On Tap Funniest Student 2008.
Press Release Body: The Comedy Store was rammed to the rafters as six acts battled it out for the illustrious title. Also performing were Dave Howarth, Paul Longley, double act Sam Pacelli and Tom Houghton, Ian Llewellyn Rowe and Mickey Anderson.
Two coach loads of supporters came up from Southampton and not even the terrible weather outside deterred them in their quest to have a great night.
In a evening of high standard comedy performances, Llewellyn Rowe came a close second but it was the plucky Geordie Wharton who came up trumps.
Judging the acts were Ant Butler from Off The Kerb management - who represents the likes of Lee Evans and Jack Dee - Kathleen Hutchison from Paramount Comedy and acclaimed stand up Robin Ince.
The MC for the night was Patrick Monaghan who delivered a typically superb turn, while headlining was if.comeddie winner Brendan Burns, who did a 20 minute set which rounded off a cracking evening.
