Press Release Body: The Government of India has planned to take severe action against websites which engage in movies and music piracy in the country. Heeding to the complaints of the Movie Producers' and the Music Owners' Associations, the Government has recently released a list of popular websites which publish and promote movies and music content in an illegal fashion.
The Government of India plans to take stern action against websites which publish, promote and encourage movies and music piracy in the country. Owing to the phenomenal increase in piracy in the entertainment media, the Government has decided to initiate severe legal action against all piracy-mongers in the virtual world. As a forewarning to all the illegal website owners, the Government has released the list of a few popular websites which engage in movies and music piracy. It has also notified that strict legal action will ensue if the websites fail to end piracy of entertainment related content.
After a long period of wait-and-watch, the Government has come out pouncing on illegal websites which engage in publishing pirated movie and music related content. This decision of the Government comes in the wake of the many complaints from the Movie Producers' Association and the Music Owners' Association - a consortium of over 100 music companies - regarding the increased piracy of entertainment related content. Some of the websites mentioned in the Government release include: * Tamilgrounds.com * Mohankumars.com * Cinefundas.com * Bharatdownloads.com * Musicindiaonline.com * Uyirvani.com * Alyaentertainment.com * Oosai.com This Government release clearly states that piracy will not be encouraged in India in any form - be it digital or virtual. It is said that the Government has instructed the police to register cases under the Anti-Piracy Act against all the websites who publish illegal online movies, copyrighted video clips and musical content like songs etc.
