Press Release Summary: Open enrollment program designed for business owners and managers who have not had the opportunity to receive a formal business education.
Press Release Body: Las Vegas, NV, March 27, 2008--The UNLV College of Business is offering a new program for business managers and professionals in the community looking to make the move to upper-management or possibly increase their wages through additional education. The Business Essentials: Executive Certificate in Business Administration program is designed to introduce practicing managers, business owners, and professionals to increasingly pertinent concepts, tools and techniques taught by today's business schools.
This program is ideal for experienced or high potential managers and professionals who may not have received any formal education, but who wish to move up the salary bracket by seeking a stronger foundation in current business theory and practice. Because this is an open enrollment program, a high school diploma or college degree is not required.
"Nevada has lower graduation rates than many parts of the country," said Steve Phelan, director for the UNLV Center for Entrepreneurship. "This has traditionally meant that many business owners and managers have had a hard time accessing high quality business education from places like UNLV. We are now committed to unlocking the knowledge in the ivory towers and making it available to everyone with a desire to learn more."
The program will be taught by leading professors from the UNLV College of Business, with years of experience making business concepts and skills readily understandable and immediately useful. Topics range from leadership and negotiation styles to business law and corporate finance. Sessions are organized into four, two-day modules focused on managing people, managing processes, the business environment, and managing money. A new module is offered every month, so students can complete the program in as little as four months or spread classes over two years.
