Press Release Body: Last week, 24 students from the Delphian School in Sheridan returned from a week-long trip to Los Angeles as part of an annual field trip sponsored by the school's business seminar. The group was composed primarily of freshman and sophomores who attend a special class on entrepreneurship.
While in Los Angeles, Delphian School students met with many hi-tech and entertainment luminaries. The hi-tech side consisted of meetings that included the founder and CEO of Diskeeper (maker of the number one disk defragmentation software in the world); Chris DeWolf, Co-Founder of MySpace; and David Hagan, CEO of Boingo, a company founded by Sky Dayton, Delphian alumnus and founder of Earthlink.
"This trip not only allowed me to become familiar with the business environment," said Delphian School sophomore Melissa Trevans, "but it opened my eyes to the amount of passion and persistence that real success requires."
Students also had face-to-face interviews with Academy Award winning producer/director and screenwriter, Paul Haggis (Crash, In the Valley of Elah, Million Dollar Baby); producer/director and screenwriter, Floyd Mutrux (Up in Smoke, Urban Cowboy, Dick Tracy); and CEO of FOX Broadcasting Company, Peter Liguori.
Each year, students in the Delphian School\'s business seminar balance classroom activities with guest speakers, local field trips and an optional field trip to the east or west coast. "These trips expose students to a high level of professionalism," offered Delphi's business seminar instructor and Assistant Headmaster, Mark Siegel, "and they provide students with the inspiration to achieve their dreams."
