Bangalore - April 07, 2008 - Saltmarch Media announced today that voting is open for the 2008 edition of Great Indian Developer Awards. This first-of-its-kind awards in India recognize trailblazing individuals, technologies, and organizations that are contributing to the evangelism, productivity and innovation excellence of the Indian developer ecosystem. This year's awards will be given away across 15 categories at an exclusive 'awards nite' at the Great Indian Developer Summit, May 19-23 2008 in Bangalore.
In Stage I, from January 25 to March 14, nominations were accepted from across 15 open individual and product categories. These were short-listed and a total of 75 nominees have been announced from the summit website. From now until May 02, everyone is invited to cast their votes for their favorites in the shortlist from here http://developersummit.com/awards.html#vote.
The rigorous selection process for the awards doesn't end there, however. Once voting closes on May 02, the votes will be counted and a final list of three nominees from each category will be made available to the high stature awards jury. The awards jury will cast their vote on the finalist, thus arriving on a winner for each of the 15 categories.
The awards jury is comprised of distinguished executives, seasoned industry professionals, and academia whose expertise spans the entire information technology gamut. This year's jury include the President of AdaptivePath & Father of Ajax (Jesse James Garrett), VP for Server Technologies at Oracle (Vijay Anand), Head for Google India R&D (Prasad Ram), General Manager for DPE at Microsoft India (Tarun Gulati), Head of Accenture Labs India (Lin Chase), VP & Head at SETLabs at Infosys Technologies (Subu Goparaju), Silverlight Geek at Microsoft (Jesse Liberty), Founder of Agile Developer Inc. (Dr. Venkat Subramaniam), IT Secretary to the Government of Karnataka (M N Vidyashankar), World-wide President of IEEE (Dr. Rangachar Kasturi), and Associate Director of Indian Institute of Science (Prof. N.
