Press Release Summary: For the second year running, Opus Energy's staff have gone the extra mile for charity by taking part in the Waendel Walk in Wellingborough on 10 May.
Press Release Body: Eighteen staff from Northampton-based Opus Energy, a leading independent supplier of electricity to UK businesses, joined thousands of fellow fundraisers to walk a combined distance of 196 kilometres for national children's charity, NSPCC. In doing so the Opus Energy team raised £2,017 including money donated from Opus Energy, which had promised to match the money raised by the team.
The Waendel Walk is an annual event that takes place over a weekend in May. Participants can choose to walk or cycle for sponsorship. There is a choice of 5, 10, 25 and 42 kilometre routes for walkers. The majority of Opus Energy's energetic team opted for the 10 kilometre walk with 2 walkers completing the full 42 kilometres.
Each year Opus Energy pledges to raise money for the NSPCC, this year it has pledged to raise even more cash for the charity and has set a target of £10,000 by April 2009. The success of the Waendel Walk already has raised hopes that Opus Energy can again outdo its target.
Pankaj Raikundalia, Credit Controller at Opus Energy, who organised the team said: "It was great to take part in this event again this year and to have beaten last years' fundraising total is fantastic. We had such a fun time with plenty of laughter along the way! It was a good way of bringing together employees from all parts of the business and forging new friendships. I am already looking forward to next year's event!"
