Press Release Body: Rosemont, IL, May 20, 2008 -- Robert Axelrod, well known Hollywood voice actor, stepped out to meet nearly 16,000 screaming Anime fans at Acen 08, the largest Mid-West Anime convention. The 3 day massive Anime fest held in Rosemont, IL was wildly successful, with fans willing to wait 10 hours or more to get their Power Ranger\'s Memorabilia signed by the sinister Lord Zedd himself and take a glimpse at the real live actor who scared the living daylights out of a whole generation.
Robert has created a wildly diverse career for himself that runs the gamut of all aspects of the entertainment industry from writing, directing, performing in major TV shows, mainstream and cult films, as well as a highly respected theatre reviewer, plus his very long list of voice-over cartoon and anime character creations, not to mention the original voicing of the popular Lord Zedd and Finster characters for the Original Hit Show, \"Mighty Morphin Power Rangers\".
Born and raised in New York City , Axelrod\'s beginnings as a child/teen actor for commercials and onstage work e ventually led him to the \"hip\" New York Soho Avant-garde theatre scene and off-Broadway shows. Robert also spent eight years as a working rock musician playing electric bass and doing vocals around the country with top musical talent. His music gigs landed him in Los Angeles where he found himself being cast in so many voice-over and movie roles that he packed up his New York gear to call L.A. his new home.
Since then, Axelrod has appeared in many feature films, including four with Charles Bronson, the Sci-Fi hit remake of \"The Blob\", \"The Last Shot\" with Alec Baldwin and Matthew Broderick, and many others. Television appearances include guest star roles on \"Amazing Stories\", \"Star Trek Voyager\", and \"The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers\".
Robert was also privileged to work with Michael Jackson in the poignant music video \"Stranger in Moscow\". This very moving, rare video can be viewed on Robert\'s newly joined myspace page www.myspace.com/robertaxelrod
(His long time manager Sheryl Mandel finally convinced him to join the myspace craziness and Robert admits, \"It\'s great\"!!!)
Robert\'s worldwide fans know him as the evil voice of Lord Zedd and Finster on the \"Mighty Morphin Power Rangers\", Armadillomon and Wizardmon on \"Digimon\", The Punisher\'s sidekick Microchip on \"Spiderman\" and Rico on \"Robotech\" and has voiced countless Anime features including \"Akira\", \"The Big O\", \"Cowboy Bebop\", \"Brain Scratch\", et al.
As Lord Zedd, Robert starred in both the first Power Rangers feature film and the wildly popular live show that toured the country. He was a regular character on Saban Entertainment, \"Wowser\" series as Ratso Catso, \"Journey To The Heart of the World\" as Scarface, \"Hallo Spencer\" as Elmer, and many more.
Coincidently, Robert was asked by an avid fan on myspace if he would be attending Anime Central in May and received an invite to be a guest at Acen!!! \"Funny how things can work out\" says Axelrod, a shy by nature, gentle man, so unlike the sinister character that has made him famous.
\"Now, I\'m hooked on these exciting cool conventions,\" laughs Axelrod, \"There is no greater feeling then knowing that your lifes\' work has touched a generation of kids and yes even adults, and to hear the stories from these kids that the work you\'ve accomplished has inspired them to construct careers from this genre\"
\"I never envisioned myself as a celeb or a collector\'s item,\" Axelrod laughs, \"but it\'s apparent that my Lord Zedd character had some major sociological impact on the kids watching back then- I scared them to death! - and they loved it!!!\"
Robert admits his mantra still is \"GO GO Power Rangers\"
